Conversation Club
Live Observation
The premise of the conversation club is up to the person leading It, can be free flow with questions and discussions. Or it can have activities that are much structured . Can be related to holidays ex: halloween themed
The live observation this week did not include any students
These were fun games and activities that promote conversation
Easy, comfortable speaking about things that interest us
Free flowing discussion
Got to see a great example of how to think on your feet when the lesson doesn’t go to plan i.e.no students! Move forward with lesson, unexpected things happen so make room for modifications on the spot. Always better to have too much than not enough material!
- Informal discussion
- Formal activities
- Students run it themselves
- Build relationships
2 Truths and a lie Activity
- Cant ask yes or no questions to find out the lie
- Must ask Who, What, Where, When, How
- Example:
- I have 3 sisters – Brittney, Sarah, Lisa
- I have been to Hawaii
- I saw humpback whales last week
Group work Activity : find two things you have in common
- Tea drinkers, been on a golf course
What could be some Cultural Differences?: greetings, gestures, restaurants, bucket lists
If Activity
- if you could be a famous person who would you be?
- a flower? An animal? Life as a movie? Where would you travel?
Would you rather?
- Two choices, and students say what they would rather do. And why?
